Push for improved treatment access and reduced stigma

Sickle cell disease is a genetic blood disorder affecting millions worldwide. Abnormal hemoglobin causes red blood cells to become rigid and sickle-shaped, blocking blood flow and oxygen delivery.
These sickle-shaped cells can block blood vessels, leading to painful and debilitating complications:
Sickle cell disease causes chronic pain, fatigue, and disability — making it difficult for patients to attend school, hold down work, or simply live a normal life.
The financial burden is crushing. Hospital visits, medication, and ongoing care put enormous pressure on families who are already struggling.
Beyond the physical toll, patients face stigma and isolation. That's why our work goes beyond medicine — we stand with them.

We provide financial assistance to individuals and families who cannot afford medical care, medication, or hospital stays.
Through school visits and community campaigns, we educate the public about sickle cell disease and work to reduce the stigma that too many patients face every day.
Our partnership with Korle-Bu Teaching Hospital gives patients direct access to specialist care they would not otherwise have.
See Our GalleryThe Sickle Cell Helping Hand Foundation exists because we believe every patient deserves support, dignity, and a fighting chance — regardless of their financial situation.
Through community outreach, hospital partnerships, and school campaigns, we're building a future where sickle cell patients in Ghana receive the care and recognition they deserve.
